The Manager of Public Relations and Media is involved in all aspects of public and media relations and serves as a point of contact for media inquiries on CHCI events, press releases, programs and program participants, and alumni.  This person serves as a lead communicator for internal and external stakeholders and plays a key role in developing and planning key CHCI events throughout the year. The manager also leads market research, develops market research tools, and drives the thought leader platform for the President & CEO with the Director and VP.

Intern - Public Relations and Media Department
Help draft, pitch, and edit Press Releases and Media Advisories for CHCI programs and events. Draft articles for CHCI Newsletter and other marketing collateral, as needed. Compose and maintain press lists and provide support for media at events as assigned. Organize press packets for events. Prepare and distribute daily clips for CHCI staff on Hispanic education, statistics, sponsors, competitors and other relevant topics. Catalog all media coverage.

Intern - College Access & Readiness Programs Internship
Help manage CHCI’s College Access & Readiness Programs. Play a key role in the development of projects related to college access initiatives for Latinos across the country such as: High School Latino Leaders in DC, Ready to Lead events, Scholarships and CHCI’s educational resources. In addition, CHCI’s interns are exposed to networking, shadowing, and mentoring opportunities with leaders, and receive ongoing professional development training from staff. The ideal candidate would be able to start immediately and continue through the end of the summer semester (20-30 hours per week, depending on availability).


Requirements:
• College graduate or pursuing a college degree.
• Strong computer literacy is necessary.
• Work a minimum of 30hrs/week.
• Must multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Excellent logistical and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be a self-starter and independent; understands the need for detail.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish-English) is a plus.
• If participating in a school internship program, requirements for that program must be submitted.
• Make a final presentation of your choice on how your newfound skills will help your career and personal goals.
