REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The role of the Regional Development Officer is to lead a comprehensive regional fund-raising program for CHCI. The position is directly responsible for major regional donor relations and development prospects and works closely with the development team, the program team, and others. The Regional Development Officer works under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Development and Vice President of Development (VPD).

DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

The Development Specialist will assist the Development Department in a variety of functions including but not limited to the administration of donor relations functions, maintenance and oversight of the Raiser’s Edge, and general support duties in support of the Development Vice President and Associate Director.

INTERNSHIPS

CHCI Internships provide students hands on experience in the organization's mission of developing the next generation of Latino leaders, while honing their own leadership skills and making important career development connections.

Benefits
Interns at CHCI get to participate in key leadership development seminars and activities within CHCI's Public Policy Fellowship Program that runs from September through May and its Summer Congressional Internship Program from June through August. These are nationally-recognized programs offered to the best and brightest Latino youth from around the country.

• Time and Stress Management
• Financial Planning
• Running for Office and Winning

• Campaign Training
• Tri-Caucus Orientation

All internship positions are unpaid, however a stipend for transportation will be granted.

Intern - Office of the President & CEO
Help manage correspondence, scheduling, and travel arrangements as well as managing administrative support as needed. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary as this position will interact with corporate executives, Members of Congress and their support staff, and various high-level government officials. The position will also produce various reports, meeting content materials, and provide logistical and administrative support to fundraising efforts.

Intern - Events Department
Provide logistical support during CHCI’s annual events such as the Public Policy Conference, Reyes of Comedy, and Gala. The CHCI Gala is the largest annual Latino Event in Washington, D.C., therefore great attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills are required. Inter will act as liaison for keynote speakers, Gala award recipients, comedians, and other special guests as needed. S/he will also provide support with regional fundraising events throughout the U.S. and make travel arrangements for invitees.

Intern - Human Resources Department
Provide support to the HR Manager. Help set up new HR information systems and update personnel files. Provide support with the restructuring process and rewrite job descriptions, employee handbook, and benefit orientation packets. Provide support with payroll and Benefit Administration. Help with employee survey and benchmarking process.

Intern - Public Relations and Media Department
Help draft, pitch, and edit Press Releases and Media Advisories for CHCI programs and events. Draft articles for CHCI Newsletter and other marketing collateral, as needed. Compose and maintain press lists and provide support for media at events as assigned. Organize press packets for events. Prepare and distribute daily clips for CHCI staff on Hispanic education, statistics, sponsors, competitors and other relevant topics. Catalog all media coverage.

Requirements:
• College graduate or pursuing a college degree.
• Strong computer literacy is necessary.
• Work a minimum of 30hrs/week.
• Must multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Excellent logistical and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be a self-starter and independent; understands the need for detail.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish-English) is a plus.
• If participating in a school internship program, requirements for that program must be submitted.
• Make a final presentation of your choice on how your newfound skills will help your career and personal goals.
