Keeping the Promise

Thank you for your interest in CHCI. Since CHCI's inception in 1978, philanthropy has played a critical role in CHCI's ability to reach out to, support and train a new generation of Latino leaders. Because of the generosity of our corporate and foundation partners, alumni, staff, board members and friends, CHCI has become the top organization in providing programs that transform the lives of young Latinos and prepare them for leadership in government and the private sector.

With Latinos expected to be one quarter of the U.S. population by 2030, the need to grow the scope and impact of our work is critical. To address this need, CHCI has launched, "Keeping the Promise" initiative – the most comprehensive fundraising effort ever undertaken by the organization. Its goal is to double philanthropic support over the next five years to advance CHCI's mission and vision. Funds raised through "Keeping the Promise" will:

  • Expand CHCI's college readiness program, Ready to Lead (R2L), to give thousands more young Latinos the tools and motivation to complete high school and go on to college.
  • Provide more and larger college scholarships to help increase graduation rates among Latino students.
  • Expand CHCI's college internship program, exposing more young Latinos to the legislative process and strengthening their professional and leadership skills.
  • Grow CHCI fellowship programs, that offer Latino college graduates work in congressional offices and federal agencies, networking and leadership training.
  • Prepare more Latino graduate students to launch careers in key disciplines to America's future – education, health, housing, international affairs, law and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Over the next five years we are laying the foundation for a bold future for CHCI, the Hispanic Community and the nation.

We invite you to be part of this ambitious effort to shape America's future.
