2009 CHCI Public Policy Conference to Feature
President Obama's Cabinet, Members of Congress
CHCI released its highly anticipated 2009 Public Policy Conference schedule this week, with the theme "Latinos Leading in a Global Society." The conference, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., on September 13-15, 2009, will be led by Members of Congress and focus on Latinos leading in key issue areas such as the economy, census, immigration, education, workforce preparedness, energy, and the green economy.
Several of President Obama's cabinet secretataries are expected to attend, including Department of Commerce Secretary Hon. Gary Locke and Department of Education Secretary Hon. Arne Duncan. Locke will give remarks during the opening plenary, "Census - Latinos Leading in Numbers" on Monday, September 14. Duncan is confirmed to speak Monday at the Opening Luncheon, "Leading in Education."
