
Ambassador Ron Kirk—the U.S. Trade Representative—has confirmed his participation in CHCI’s Public Policy Conference on Monday, September 12. Ambassador Kirk will be a featured speaker in Monday’s opening luncheon entitled “Keeping the Promise: Building a Stronger International Community.”
Ambassador Kirk is the latest addition to a powerful and growing list of conference speakers that includes U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, and 17 members of Congress.
As a member of President Obama’s Cabinet, Ambassador Kirk serves as the President's primary trade advisor and spokesperson on trade issues. Ambassador Kirk will give some initial remarks and then participate in a high-level panel discussion moderated by Rep. Albio Sires. The session will focus on the importance of building a stronger international community and the various ways that this objective may be successfully achieved, including a look at trade.

Keeping the Promise is a five-year campaign to raise $43 million to strengthen and expand the reach and scope of our high school college readiness program, annual scholarships and other college attainment efforts, and professional development programs, including internships and fellowships.
Our programs draw from a national group of young Latinos and provide the financial support, resources, and direct work experience on Capitol Hill to develop a pipeline of highly talented young Latino Leaders.
