CHCI Welcomes First Ever Spring Congressional Internship Class
Summer Internship Application Due on February 5, 2010
CHCI welcomed its first ever spring Congressional Internship class to Washington, D.C. on Monday, February 1, 2010. The class represents CHCI's growth from strictly a summer Congressional Internship program to three sessions per year (spring, summer and fall) thanks to a $1 million donation from Walmart.
CHCI Spring Congressional Intern and Bronx, New York native Limer Batista is ready to get to work. "There is no better experience for a student than to be placed in a congressional office for 12 weeks. It's the hands on experience I have been longing for, and now I can finally do it. I am sure this internship will exceed my expectations and enhance my leadership skills."
Interns began an exciting and informative week of orientation on Monday, where they will get acclimated to Washington, D.C. and prepare to take positions in Congressional offices.

The interns were welcomed by Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO, and Juan Sepulveda, Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans.
Walmart's support will allow CHCI to eventually triple the number of Latino youth who will have the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill each year as part of its award-winning Congressional Internship program.
