Effective December 1, CHCI will be  relocated to its new interim home at 300 M Street, SE in Washington, DC.  We have outgrown our current home and are in the process of searching for a new headquarters to house a 21st Century Leadership Center. We look forward to engaging all our stakeholders as we embark on Building Our Future, Together.

We would like to give special thanks to our friends at Dell for their generous contribution of temporary office space while we make this historic transition!

2013 Combined Federal Campaign Kickoff

CHCI Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month & College-Readiness at R2L D.C.

As part of its Hispanic Heritage Month events, CHCI hosted its first Ready to Lead (R2L) event of the academic year in Washington, D.C. Nearly 200 students gathered at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Monday, September 30, 2013 eager to gain college-going knowledge . Students representing 24 area high schools were welcomed by CHCI President & CEO Esther Aguilera who challenged students to dream and believe in themselves. Read more

R2L returns to the Central Valley!

Over 200 enthusiastic high school students joined us at the third Ready to Lead (R2L) event at the University of California, Merced on Saturday, October 12. Participants hailed from 16 area high schools across the Central Valley, traveling as far as 70 miles away from home to learn about the college process, engage with mentors, and receive encouragement to successfully graduate from high school and obtain a postsecondary education. This year, former NASA astronaut, engineer, and founder of Reaching for the Stars Foundation, Jose Hernandez, shared his personal story of resiliency and hard work, which led him to accomplish his childhood dream of becoming a NASA astronaut. About CHCI

In 1978, a small group of Hispanic Members of Congress established CHCI with the vision of bringing the promise of the American Dream to the next generation of Latinos. CHCI was founded on three cornerstones for success: education attainment and college access, leadership development, and access to a powerful network of Latino leaders.

Today, CHCI is the nation’s premier Hispanic nonprofit and nonpartisan 501 (c)(3) leadership organization that develops the next generation of Latino leaders by building upon those same three cornerstones. 

For 36 years, CHCI has empowered strong, effective, and committed Latino leaders who are actively changing the economic and public policy landscape in the United States. In 2013 we honor this legacy as we celebrate Our Time: A Strong America.
