Happy New Year from CHCI!
2012 is a big year for CHCI as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our Annual Awards Gala—the signature event of Hispanic Heritage Month and CHCI’s most important source of program funding.
Our story began 35 years ago with a small group of Hispanic members of Congress who had the vision of bringing the promise of the American Dream to the next generation of Latinos. Today, CHCI is the nation’s premier Hispanic nonprofit and nonpartisan leadership development organization that has transformed the lives of more than 6,000 young Latinos.
Our exceptional programs—Ready to Lead (R2L®), High School Latino Leaders in D.C., Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships—develop young Latino leaders by promoting college readiness, supporting college attainment, providing unmatched career development experience, and offering award-winning leadership development programs that connect program participants to the most powerful network of Latino leadership.
As we celebrate “CHCI at 35: Keeping the Founders’ Promise” this year, we will focus on our 35 years of impact to demonstrate how CHCI continues to fulfill our founders’ vision and CHCI’s mission to develop the next generation of Latino leaders®.
And what better way to start the celebration than with a new video series that highlights Latino leadership. The inaugural episode of our Inside the Leader Studio features CHCI Chair Rep. Charles A. Gonzalez and CHCI Alumni Association President Luis Campillo, both of whom are respected Latino leaders and avid supporters of CHCI.
Led by veteran television commentator Alicia Menendez, this talented duo discuss their personal leadership paths, the opportunities CHCI provides to emerging Latino leaders, and offer their perspectives into a variety of issues that affect Latinos in the United States. This exciting program was made possible through a generous partnership with the National Association of Broadcasters.
CHCI invites you to view this dynamic conversation and share it with your networks.
Demonstrate Your Commitment to the Next Generation of Latino Leaders
The future of our great nation lies with our Latino youth. In 2011, CHCI continued to expand nationally and our programs made a powerful, positive difference to nearly 1,700 young Latinos—the most ever recorded in one year! However, CHCI also had more than 24,000 inquiries last year, which is why it is imperative that we serve more of these emerging leaders.
YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL! Learn how you can make a difference to a future Latino leader and help CHCI expand its programs. Contact CHCI’s Development department at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 202-548-5865.
