CHCI Interns Reflect on Their Experience, Vote Now for Your Favorite Blog
After almost eight weeks in Washington, the Congressional Interns are preparing to return home -- but not before they blog about their experience. Check out the final edition of the CHCI Congressional Internship Summer Blog contest as the interns reflect on what they have learned. There is still time to vote for your favorite entries. The deadline to vote is July 30.
The goal of this initiative is to highlight the CHCI internship experience, providing a glimpse of the participants' thoughts, interactions and activities. The interns with the most votes will receive round trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines, the official airline of the Congressional Internship Program. Join us for the interns' graduation ceremony on Wednesday, July 29 at the Rayburn House Office Building Courtyard from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Interns' Community Service Project on 2010 Census a Huge Success
On Sunday, July 26, the 24 members of the Congressional Internship class held a community service project to inform and educate members of the Latino community on the significance of being counted in the 2010 Census. Hundreds of local community members gathered at the Bell Multi-Cultural High School Field for the event, themed "Celebrate: Tu Cuentas." They heard from local Census Bureau employees and were entertained by radio station El Zol.
An accurate count in the 2010 Census is critical for the Latino community to ensure the government adequately funds schools, roads, infrastructure, and other initiatives according to the community's population and needs.
D.C. Council Member Jim Graham's Chief of Staff Ted Loza presented opening remarks. To view photos of the community service project, please click here.
