CHCI is pleased to announce that 2010 Medallion of Excellence Winner Arturo Sandoval and 1986 Distinguished Service Award Recipient Clara Padilla Andrews have confirmed their attendance at CHCI’s 35th Anniversary Awards Gala.
Arturo Sandoval Arturo Sandoval is a beloved, six-time GRAMMY®-award winning musician who is one of the world’s most accomplished artists on the jazz trumpet as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist, and composer. As a founding member of the GRAMMY®-award winning group Irakere, he helped bring an explosive mixture of jazz, classical, rock and traditional Cuban music to the world.
Clara Padilla Andrews As former New Mexico Secretary of State, Clara Padilla Andrews was the first Latina in the United States to hold an executive state office. She later became the publisher of El Hispanic News, the oldest Hispanic publication in the Northwest. She founded the Susannah Maria Gurule Foundation, which worked to raise awareness of Latino healthcare issues, and most recently, she is the Immediate Past President of National Association of Hispanic Publications.
As part of its 35th Anniversary Awards Gala, CHCI has invited all of its Highest Honors winners to attend the nation’s premier celebration of outstanding Latino achievement.
