CHCI is proud to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting the nation’s premier celebration of the Latino community. This year’s theme—CHCI at 35: Keeping the Founders' Promise—pays tribute to the Institute's founding members whose vision has resulted in transformative programs that empower young Latinos and develop the next generation of Latino leaders. Throughout our 35 years, CHCI’s programs—Ready to Lead, High School Latino Leaders in D.C., Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships—have made a powerful, positive difference in the lives of more than 7,000 young Latinos. CHCI's HHM Events represent an opportunity to highlight these highly competitive and nationally acclaimed Latino youth leadership development programs, while raising critical funds to continue and expand opportunities for the next generation of Latino leaders.
Our 2012 events will be held on September 10-13 at the historic Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Attendance is anticipated to exceed 3,000 people for CHCI’s Public Policy Conference and 35th Anniversary Awards Gala. Combined, these events represent the largest and most prestigious gathering of Hispanic leaders in the nation. Attendees and guests will include national leaders, elected officials, corporate executives, community activists, educators, entertainers, and media personalities.
CHCI would like to thank its HHM Planning Committee for its leadership in assembling this year’s high-caliber program:
Rep. Ben R. Luján, HHM Planning Committee Chair
Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard
Lidia Martinez, Southwest Airlines
Luis Campillo, Ibarra Strategy Group, CHCI Alumni Association President
