Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) is September 15 to October 15.  Join CHCI and more than 4,000 Latino leaders from across the country as they celebrate HHM 2011 with events in Washington, D.C.!

Public Policy Conference:  September 11-13

11th Annual Reyes of Comedy:  September 13

34th Annual Awards Gala:  September 14

CHCI is proud to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting the nation’s premier tribute to the Latino community.  This year’s theme—Keeping the Promise:  Unity, Strength, Leadership—celebrates CHCI's 34 years of positive change, and sets the organization's and community's sights on what is needed for a brighter future for all Latinos in the 21st century.

CHCI events will be held September 11-14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and historic Warner Theatre.  Attendance is anticipated to exceed 4,500 people for CHCI’s Public Policy Conference and Awards Gala.  Combined, these events represent the largest and most prestigious gathering of Hispanic leaders in the nation.  Attendees and guests will include national leaders, elected officials, corporate executives, community activists, educators, entertainers, and media personalities.

By focusing on programs and services that promote educational attainment and leadership development, CHCI is committed to expanding opportunities for the next generation of Latino leaders.  HHM events represent an opportunity for CHCI to highlight its highly competitive and nationally acclaimed Latino youth leadership development programs—Public Policy and Graduate Fellowship Programs, Congressional Internship Program, Scholarship Program—and R2L, a college readiness program for high school students.  R2L's newest program, High School Latino Leaders in D.C., will also be featured.

CHCI would like to thank its HHM Planning Committee for its leadership in assembling this year’s high-caliber program:
Rep. Ben R. Luján, HHM Planning Committee Chair
Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard
Ivelisse Estrada, Vice President, Corporate and Community Relations, Univision
Frank P. Ros, Vice President, Latin Affairs, The Coca-Cola Company
