Renewable energy provides the U.S. with energy security and independence, creates a cleaner and healthier environment, and fuels local economy while improving our standard of living. As indicated by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the rising demand for energy increases as the population continues to grow. The U.S. needs to plan accordingly to provide for the growing demand in energy. With federal incentives on renewable energy, the US has seen an increase in installation of solar and wind energy and a creation of jobs; unfortunately, many incentives have expired or will be expiring soon. This panel will examine policies and incentives on renewable energy and will identify opportunities to ensure long-term solutions for supporting renewables.

Join CHCI-Shell STEM Graduate Fellow Emma Lopez as she leads a discussion on the benefits renewable energy is having for America and the necessary federal support required to continue seeing a growth in renewable energy and energy independence.
