Information on Assisting Victims of the September 11 Attacks

National Association of Hispanic Fire Fighters has established a relief fund to assist the spouses and children of fallen firefighters in New York City. Puerto Rican Family Institute, Inc. has established “The Tree of Life” campaign to support eight Crisis and Recovery Units established to assist those most affected by the attacks on the World Trade Center. For more information please call PRFI at (212) 229-6922. 

Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Educational Fund has established an anti-bias hotline to assist people who have been victims of bias, discrimination or violence based on a person’s actual (or perceived) race, color, national origin, or religion. Please call PRLDEF’s Anti-Bias Hotline toll-free at (800) 328-2322.

PRLDEF has established an “Ayuda Desk” to help Spanish-speaking victims and families of the World Trade Center attack. They are currently in need of volunteer advocates and translators. For more information please call PRLDEF at (212) 739-7576 or (2120 739-7572. 

Unidos for America provides support for the survivors and families of the victims of the September 11 attacks, and addresses the special needs of those most in need –especially low-income families, limited English-speaking individuals and recent immigrants.
