Honors Louis Caldera

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (
CHCI
), the nation’s leading Hispanic educational organization, honored the
former Secretary of the Army Louis Caldera at a reception on Capitol
Hill on
Tuesday, April 9, 2002
.
CHCI
recognized his many career achievements, including his recent
appointment as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement for the
California State University System (CSU).
“Caldera’s
commitment to the Hispanic community, in particular our youth, has been
unwavering and constant,” said
CHCI
Chairman, the Hon. Silvestre Reyes. “
CHCI
looks forward to continue partnering with Vice Chancellor Caldera as we
work to develop the next generation of Latino leaders.”
As
Vice Chancellor, Caldera’s duties include system-wide fundraising and
development programs, legislative affairs, community relations, alumni
affairs, public affairs and communications.
He also serves as President of the CSU Foundation.
"I
am grateful to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and the
tremendous support they have given me throughout the years,” said
Caldera. ” I look forward to continue partnering with them in my
new capacity with the
California
State
University
system to inspire and
empower Hispanic students to become future leaders in our nation."
The
CSU is the largest four-year university system in the country, with
nearly 400,000 students. CSU has 23 campuses in
California
, nine of them designated
as Hispanic Serving Institutions. Four campus presidents are Hispanic
and 24 percent of the CSU student body is Hispanic.
CHCI

non-profit and non-partisan educational 501(c)(3) organization, provides
leadership development programs and educational services for Hispanic
college and postgraduate students. The
