CHCI Announces 2003-2004 Public Policy FellowsTwenty of the nation's most promising Latino emerging leaders selected for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's (CHCI) prestigious Public Policy Fellowship have arrived in the nation's capitol. They will gain hands-on experience at the national level to affect public policy at every level, learn how the legislative process functions, and challenge themselves personally and professionally to become stronger, more effective leaders. Each year, the Public Policy Fellowship program offers up to 20 promising Latinos from across the country the opportunity to come to Washington, DC for nine-months and gain intensive work experience in placements such as Congressional offices, federal agencies, Washington-based media groups, national advocacy organizations, and government offices of corporations. The 2003-2004 class of fellows will participate in weekly leadership development sessions, professional training workshops and will meet with national leaders to discuss substantive policy issues. "It is a privilege to witness the professional and personal development of each fellow throughout their nine-month stay in Washington," said Ingrid M. Duran, CHCI President and CEO. "They arrive an eager student of the public policy arena and graduate the program as a Latino leader armed with the skill-set to make an impact on a changing nation."
