CHCI Youth Web Site Adds Innovative College Search Powered by Hobsons

12 million to benefit annually

WASHINGTON, DC (February 10, 2004) – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) announced today the addition of College Search Powered by Hobsons, a new tool that allows visitors to explore all educational institutions in the United States and Canada.  Specifically, the college search provides information on student and school profiles, campus tours, and the ability to request admissions information.

“With more than 1 million CHCI youth web site visitors monthly, it is important CHCI be equipped with the most up-to-date technology,” said Ingrid M. Duran, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute President and CEO. “The addition of College Search enables Latino youth to access information critical to their path towards higher education.”

Users can search more than 3800 schools, take virtual campus tours or apply online by visiting www.chci.org/chciyouth/resources/search.htm.

“A strong feature of our college search drop-in feature is flexibility,” stated Craig Heldman, Hobsons Americas President. “We can quickly adapt the drop-in search to include all accredited two- and four-year schools in the U.S. and Canada, or limit it to schools in a particular field of membership or state. Further, we can adjust the drop-in search’s branding to match the user’s site.”

CHCI’s youth web site is designed specifically for Hispanic youth (ages14-25). It connects youth to various resources that assist them in achieving their educational goals. The web site also links students to programs that develop their leadership and professional potential in an effort to achieve a more active and civic-minded Latino community.

CHCI, a non-profit and non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization, provides educational programs for Hispanic college and postgraduate students.  The CHCI Board of Directors is comprised of Hispanic Members of Congress, non-profit leaders, and corporate executives.  For more information on CHCI, call 1-800-EXCEL DC or visit www.chci.org.
