ESTHER AGUILERA NAMED CHCI PRESIDENT AND CEO

Aguilera poised to expand opportunities for
“the next generation of Latino leaders"

Washington, DC – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) announced the appointment of Esther Aguilera as its new President and CEO. After an extensive nationwide search, Aguilera was unanimously chosen by CHCI’s Board of Directors to lead the country’s premier Hispanic educational organization. Aguilera has extensive experience leading and managing complex organizations. She brings over 15 years of policy, legislative and corporate experience, as well as a long history of working with the Hispanic community.

“CHCI is moving into a whole new phase—with a new CEO, Board Chair, and Executive Committee in place,” said Congresswoman Grace Napolitano. “Previous CEO Ingrid Duran contributed immensely to the growth of CHCI, and with Esther Aguilera, CHCI will continue to expand its roster of innovative programs. We look forward to utilizing Esther’s leadership and varied skills-- they will prove essential as CHCI works to expand its crucial goal of producing the next generation of Latino leaders.”

Aguilera says CHCI’s new leadership will elevate the profile and expand the reach of CHCI’s valued programs.

“Leading CHCI will be an exciting challenge, and I am grateful to the Board of Directors for the trust it has shown in allowing me to accept that challenge,” said Aguilera. “CHCI has done tremendous work in providing Hispanic youth with an unprecedented opportunity to become leaders in their communities. CHCI will continue this important work, while expanding its mission to reflect the needs of a diverse and dynamic Hispanic community.”

Aguilera began her career in Washington, DC as a policy analyst for the National Council of La Raza and then served as Executive Director of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Since that time, she has held other key positions on Capitol Hill, as well as the Department of Energy. Most recently, Aguilera served as a principal with the Dewey Square Group, a renowned public affairs firm where she directed a number of projects for Fortune 100 companies, nonprofit organizations, and trade associations. In addition, Aguilera has been a keynote speaker for numerous organizations, including Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and the Public Health Association.

CHCI, a non-profit and non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization, provides educational programs for Hispanic college and postgraduate students. CHCI’s board of directors is comprised of Hispanic members of the U.S. Congress, non-profit sector leaders, and corporate executives.
