CHCI’s 2006 Public Policy Conference and 29th Annual Gala Scheduled October 2-4Organization Secures 2007 Conference and Gala Dates WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation’s leading Hispanic educational nonprofit organization, today announced it has secured dates for the 2006 and 2007 Public Policy Conference and Annual Gala, the nation’s premier and largest annual gathering commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month. CHCI’s 2006 Policy Conference and 29th Annual Gala are scheduled for October 2 - 4. Similarly, 2007 dates have been secured for October 1-3. The 2006 Public Policy Conference will be held at the Washington, D.C. Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, October 2 and 3. Conference participants will have an opportunity to discuss issues ranging from education, social and economic development to housing with Hispanic Members of Congress, national scholars, community and corporate leaders. CHCI’s signature comedy event, Reyes of Comedy Night, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, promising to be an unforgettable evening of laughter, as Hispanic comedians take the stage of the historic Warner Theater for two-hours non-stop. In the past, Reyes of Comedy Night has featured comedians such as Carlos Mencia of Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia. Closing the week of events is CHCI’s 29th Annual Gala, to be held this year at the Washington Convention Center Wednesday, October 4. With more than 2,000 guests, ranging from federal and local elected officials, celebrities, corporate and nonprofit leaders, the gala celebrates outstanding accomplishments of individual Hispanic leaders from all sectors of society. CHCI’s Gala is the organization’s primary annual fundraising event, with all proceeds benefiting CHCI’s leadership development programs and educational services.
