CHCI Expands Multi-City Education and Leadership Outreach to Miami Area College and University Students with Panel Discussion

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation’s leading Hispanic educational nonprofit organization, announced it will host along with Board Member Hon. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-18) and CHCI Chairwoman Hon. Grace Flores Napolitano (CA-38) an Emerging Leaders and Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Miami on Monday, May 15 at Florida International University (FIU) Park Campus – Graham Ballroom Center, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT.

FIU President Modesto A. Maidique, corporate, community and local elected officials will partner with CHCI as it expands a multi-city education and leadership outreach awareness effort to Miami area college and university students. CHCI will host a panel session to discuss the importance of education and leadership skills in today’s market driven economy.

“For two and a half decades CHCI programs have provided Hispanic youth with significant education and hands-on leadership development opportunities through scholarships, public policy fellowships and internships,” said CHCI President and CEO Esther Aguilera. “Today, more than ever, CHCI remains committed to continue carrying forward the education legacy of its founders through meaningful programs at the local, regional and national level.”

“Since last fall, CHCI has made 16 visits within the states of California, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Texas, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and now Florida” added Aguilera.

CHCI’s education and leadership awareness seminars are made possible through partnerships with Wal-Mart, State Farm Insurance, Taco Bell. BellSouth is CHCI’s Miami regional outreach sponsor.

CHCI first launched its multi-city seminar series at the City University of New York last October.
