CHCI Public Policy Fellow Moderates Debate among Distinguished Panel

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation’s premier Hispanic youth leadership development and educational organization, announced its Public Policy Fellows will host a roundtable discussion on the disproportionate incidence of cervical cancer among Hispanic women in the United States. The roundtable will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2105.

Expert panelists, including Hon. Hilda Solis, (CA-32), will discuss cultural barriers — including lack of insurance, education, and access to health care — which may impact the 2,000 Hispanic women diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in the U.S. Latinas experience the second-highest rate of invasive cervical cancer of any ethnic group and a disproportionately high mortality rate.
