CHCI Roundtable to Evaluate Role of Religion in Shaping Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation’s premier Hispanic youth leadership development and educational organization, announced its Public Policy Fellows will host a roundtable discussion, “Faith Matters: A Conversation on Religion and Politics.” The roundtable will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at United States Capitol, Mansfield Room, S-207.

Expert panelists—including Hon. Bob Garcia (NY) and Mr. Jay Hein, Director, The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives—will discuss the impact of religious discourse and global religious tensions in shaping foreign and domestic policy.

The Public Policy Fellowship roundtable is part of CHCI’s Emerging Leaders’ Series to help address issues of importance to Hispanics. CHCI’s nationally recognized, nine-month Public Policy Fellowship, the nation’s first Hispanic Public Policy Fellowship Program, offers 24 college graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the public policy area of their choice, with placements ranging from Capitol Hill to the federal government, nonprofit organizations and corporate America.
