CHCI has assembled an outstanding line-up of powerful Latino leaders to participate in Keeping the Promise: Partnerships for Latino Education Success—CHCI’s education forum designed to foster an ongoing national dialogue focused on increasing educational attainment among young Latinos. José Díaz-Balart, Telemundo news anchor, and Natalie Morales, news anchor on NBC’s TODAY, will moderate two sessions to begin a dynamic dialogue on critical education issues that have national significance. CHCI has assembled an amazing group of thought leaders to address these issues. Other invited special guests include: Rep. José Serrano (NY), Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (NY) and Rep. 2012 is a big year for CHCI as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our Annual Awards Gala—the signature event of Hispanic Heritage Month and CHCI’s most important source of program funding. As we celebrate “CHCI at 35: Keeping the Founders’ Promise” this year, we will focus on our 35 years of impact to demonstrate how CHCI continues to fulfill our founders’ vision and CHCI’s mission to develop the next generation of Latino leaders®. And what better way to start the celebration than with a new video series that highlights Latino leadership. The inaugural episode of our Inside the Leader Studio features CHCI Chair Rep. Charles A. Join CHCI and its partners at NBCUniversal's Studio 8H in 30 Rockefeller Plaza to participate in CHCI's Keeping the Promise: Partnerships for Latino Education Success. Education experts, advocates, and local and national elected officials will identify and discuss best practices to increase educational attainment for Latinos from K-16. Panelists will also examine the unique education challenges facing young Latinos and the barriers to higher education attainment, and make recommendations since high school and college completion are essential pieces to protecting future U.S. economic health. CHCI today proudly announced the creation of the Cisneros Family Endowment, representing the largest contribution from an individual donor in CHCI's history. The endowment, made possible by a generous pledge of $700,000 from The Gilbert and Jacki Cisneros Foundation, will provide support for two Latino students from California to participate in CHCI's Congressional Internship Program every year.
