Walmart Renews Commitment to Latino Education and Career Development

Second $1 Million Gift to CHCI Continues Year-Round Internships for Latino Undergraduates

CHCI today announced a new $1 million grant from Walmart to continue the fall and spring semesters of its award-winning Congressional Internship Program (CIP) through 2015. Walmart's $1 million donation in 2009 allowed CHCI to expand its traditional summer program to conduct three internship sessions each year, effectively doubling the reach of the internship program. Since the program's expansion, 55 CHCI Walmart Congressional interns have benefited from this life-changing experience. More...

The Latino List Airs on HBO Tonight at 8:00 p.m.

Explore what it means to be "Latino" in America in the 21st century by watching the premiere of HBO's latest documentary, THE LATINO LIST. 

Through this powerful piece, Director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders offers a unique glimpse into Hispanic America and its vibrant culture.

NPR Correspondent Maria Hinojosa interviews 16 prominent Hispanic Americans about growing up Latino and the challenges faced on their paths to achieving success. Also addressed are the issues of maintaining a distinct cultural identity in an evolving cultural landscape and how these Americans shaped that cultural landscape through their lives and actions.

This timely documentary brings to life the Latino experience in a very personal way.

President Obama Addresses Gala Attendees

Once again this year, the CHCI Hispanic Heritage Month activities drew an impressive array of the Washington elite and important, national decision makers. While CHCI’s Public Policy Conference had the participation of Cabinet secretaries, White House officials, ambassadors, and more than 20 members from both houses of Congress, the 34th Annual Awards Gala drew them all, plus Congressional leaders, a Supreme Court Justice, international royalty, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and the President himself for a fourth year in a row.
