CHCI Launches 2010 Calendar, Sponsorship Options

CHCI released its 2010 calendar and officially launched its 2010 programs and events sponsorship opportunities. The new year will feature programmatic enhancements with the ongoing national roll-out of Ready to Lead, the expansion of the internship program, and additional CHCI networking and outreach events.

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan Visits CHCI

On Friday, October 30, 2009 Secretary of Education Arne Duncan visited CHCI and met with the 2009-2010 Class of Public Policy Fellows. Secretary Duncan outlined the current education system's challenges especially in serving the poorest demographic of the student population, pointing out that the Latino community is the most critically underserved.

D.C. Hispanic Students Learn How to Score Financial Goals with Visa's Free FIFA-Themed Personal Finance Video Game Financial Soccer


As part of an ongoing global financial literacy effort, Visa Inc. and Mexican Soccer Legend Jorge Campos  showcased a new FIFA World CupTM branded educational video game to a group of Washington, D.C. area Hispanic students today at a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) event on Capitol Hill.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Seeks Applicants for 2010 Internships, Fellowships, and Scholarships

CHCI, the nation's premier Hispanic educational and youth leadership development organization, launched a national campaign to recruit Hispanic students - college-bound, undergraduate and graduate - for its nationally recognized leadership development programs and scholarships.

Applications for CHCI's Congressional Internship Program, Graduate & Young Professional Fellowship Program, Public Policy Fellowship Program, and Scholarship Program are available now.

The Stars Come Out for CHCI's 32nd Annual Awards Gala

CHCI celebrated more than three decades of serving Latino youth at its 32nd Annual Awards Gala held Wednesday, September 16 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. This year's theme, "Latinos Leading in the Arts" honored Latino achievements and contributions to the arts.  Click here for a recap of the night's events.


CHCI, AT&T Partner for College Readiness Program

CHCI today announced a $75,000 grant from AT&T to support its Ready to Lead college readiness program. Jerry Fuentes, AT&T State President of New Mexico and Arizona, presented the check at CHCI's Ready to Lead Washington D.C. program on Tuesday, September 14, 2009.

Veronica Duron, 24, didn't stop being a student when she graduated from the University of Texas in 2007. The San Antonio native spent a year working at a law firm and then came to the District as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute fellow in 2008. Even as her fellowship turned into a full-time job on Capitol Hill in May, Duron said she's still learning.
