Applications for CHCI’s High School Latino Leaders in D.C. Program now available!

The 2012 CHCI High School Latino Leaders in D.C. program will take place in Washington, D.C. on July 22-27.  Sponsored by State Farm Insurance Companies and held in partnership with the Close Up Foundation, the program brings high school students to Washington, D.C. to spend five days learning about how the Federal Government works, meeting important leaders, visiting historic sites, and developing a deeper understanding of how they can affect positive change in their communities and their nation.

Students from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Phoenix, San Antonio, the San Joaquin Valley in California, and four counties in Southern California are all eligible to apply.

Applications are now available and CHCI offers these tips for applying to this unique program

In order to be eligible to apply, students must live or attend high school in one of the eight regions affiliated with CHCI’s Ready to Lead program. While attending a Ready to Lead event is not required in order to apply, attendance at Ready to Lead will be considered during the selection process. There is no cost to student participants. Travel, lodging, meals and activities will all be covered through the support of State Farm and CHCI. The programs from each city will be responsible for covering the expenses of the chaperone.
