CHCI Celebrates 2013's Summer Graduation Ceremony

On Wednesday, July 27, CHCI was proud to celebrate the 2013 Summer Programs Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 2013 CHCI Summer Congressional Interns (CIP), HEP CAMP Association Interns and R2L NextGen participants. These 82 future Latino Leaders were treated to a wonderful ceremony held at the Rayburn Foyer, attended by a variety of special guests such as: Brandon Kirkham (Marathon Oil), Fernando Laguarda & Lynn Romano (Time Warner Cable), Julio Suarez (Darden), Gilbert & Jacki Cisneros (The Gilbert and Jacki Cisneros Foundation), Juan Otero (Comcast NBCUniversal), Lupe De la Cruz (PepsiCo), Xochitl Yañez & Roosevelt Elicerk (State Farm Insurance), Camille Donald (Mass Mutual) and Rep. Jim Costa. CHCI President & CEO, Esther Aguilera, delivered the opening remarks highlighting not only the diversity of the class, but also the potential represented by each and every participants. CHCI Chair, Rubén Hinojosa and Rep. Joe Garcia also joined Esther on stage, providing some inspiring words to the graduating class.
The program continued with CHCI Summer Intern, Daniel Herrera, who captivated the audience with his heart-warming speech about his CHCI experience. One by one, the graduates were called on stage by CHCI Vice President of Programs, William Gill, to be recognized for their achievements and inducted as new members of the CHCI Alumni Association – celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year.
It has been an honor for CHCI to host such a talented group of aspiring Latino leaders. With each graduating class, we propel the dreams and aspirations of the young people we serve, ensuring that our growing community has a place in America's bright future.
