CHCI Hosts the 2014 Joint Spring Graduation
On April 29, CHCI proudly celebrated the 2014 Joint Spring Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 2013-14 CHCI Graduate Fellows (GFP), Public Policy Fellows (PPF), and the 2014 CHCI Spring Congressional Interns (CIP). This year, a total of 38 future Latino leaders were treated to a wonderful ceremony held at the U.S. Library of Congress, to celebrate the completion of their respective program and their inclusion into the prestigious CHCI Alumni Association. The ceremony was attended by a variety of special guests. CHCI Chairman, Rep. Rubén Hinojosa and CHCI President & CEO, Esther Aguilera, opened the program with some remarks emphasizing the importance of higher education and perseverance.
The CHCI Fellows and Interns were also treated with remarks by a number of prominent congressmen, including Reps. Tony Cárdenas, Xavier Becerra, Joe Garcia, Raúl Grijalva, Ben Ray Lujan, Charles Rangel, and Marc Veasey. The CHCI also got the opportunity to listen to some inspirational words from Gilberto Valdes (New York Life) and Matt Fitzgerald (Walmart), proud sponsors of the CHCI Leadership Development Programs. The celebration continued with keynote remarks for each graduation class, delivered by Baltazar Hernandez (CIP), Ricky Alvarado (PPF), and Carolina Rizzo (GFP).
It has been an honor for CHCI to host such a talented group of aspiring Latino leaders. With each graduating class, we propel the dreams and aspirations of the young people we serve, ensuring that we continue to educate, empower and connect our nation’s Latino youth.
The 2014 Joint Spring Graduation Ceremony was made possible by the generous support of New York Life.
