Dell Helps Latino Students Gain Competitive Advantage
Partnership with CHCI Provides Notebook Computer to Scholarship Winners for Fifth Consecutive Year
CHCI sent notebook computers to 100 of its 2011 scholarship award winners during the month of February through the continuation of a long-standing partnership with Dell, Inc. The company has supported CHCI scholarship winners since 2007, donating more than 500 computers valued at almost $550,000 over the past five years.
“With the many obstacles Latino students face in finishing their post-secondary education, the commitment from Dell to support our mission gives Latino college students the technological capabilities to be successful in their studies,” said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO. “Dell has effectively doubled the value of our scholarship program for undergraduate students and we are grateful for Dell’s long-term commitment to developing the future leaders of our community and our country.”
“We are committed to helping these scholars prepare for the future and become our future business and political leaders,” said Ed Loya, Vice President of Human Resources at Dell. “Dell has a long-standing relationship with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and will continue to work with CHCI to provide access to and the benefits from top-of-the-line laptops.”
CHCI scholars receive a Dell XPS 15 laptop system offering the latest technology and wireless networking capability and have access to 24-hour telephone and online Dell technical support.
Since its inception in 2001, CHCI has invested over $3.3 million in college scholarships for the Latino community. CHCI scholarships are available to Latino students enrolled in a two or four year accredited college or university. Students pursuing an associate, bachelor or graduate degree may apply for annual scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 respectively. The deadline to apply for the 2012 CHCI scholarships is April 16. Find out more information at www.chci.org/scholarships.
