Great Minds in STEM and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Form Partnership To Host First Annual Hispanic STEM Legacy Luncheon
Great Minds in STEMTM and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) are partnering for the first time to honor Hispanic contributions to America's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) heritage at the inaugural Hispanic STEM Legacy Luncheon. This first of its kind celebration of excellence in STEM is set to take place in Washington, D.C., on September 16th, 2010 following CHCI's Hispanic Heritage Month kick-off festivities.
At the luncheon, Great Minds in STEMTM will honor 3 outstanding technology professionals who have built impressive careers at some of America's most iconic corporations and institutions. They are: John J. Tracy, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Engineering, Operations & Technology for The Boeing Company; Olga Gonzalez-Sanabria, Director of Engineering at NASA - Glenn Research Center; and Alicia Abella, Ph.D., Executive Director of Research at AT&T. And for visionary leadership in the development of the ground-breaking, multi-agency partnerships responsible for the STEM-UpTM Initiative, Great Minds in STEMTM and CHCI will honor Clarence Johnson, Principal Director, Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity at the United States Department of Defense, and Lieutenant General Robert Van Antwerp, Chief of Engineers and Commanding General, United States Army Corps of Engineers.
Beyond their impressive professional accomplishments, Legacy Luncheon honorees have distinguished themselves by dedicating large parts of their career to promoting STEM degrees and careers through their involvement and support of Great Minds in STEMTM and other professional educational and outreach programs.
