2013 Fall Congressional Internship Program Graduation Ceremony

On November 24, CHCI proudly celebrated the 2013 Fall Congressional Internship Program Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 2013 CHCI Fall Congressional Interns (CIP). These 24 future Latino leaders were treated to a wonderful ceremony held at the Rayburn Gold Room to celebrate the completion of the eight-week program. The ceremony was attended by a variety of special guests. CHCI Chairman, Rep. Rubén Hinojosa and CHCI President & CEO, Esther Aguilera, opened the program with some remarks emphasizing the importance of higher education and perseverance.

CHCI Advisory Council Member Congressman Jim Costa joined in congratulating the 2013 Fall CHCI Interns along with fellow congressional colleagues such as: Reps. David Cicilline, Eric Swalwell, and Sheila Jackson Lee. The Hon. Bob Garcia also made a guest appearance at the ceremony reminding everyone of CHCI’s humble beginnings and highlighting how far we’ve come in Developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders. The CHCI also got the opportunity to listen to some inspirational words from Nathalie Rayes (Azteca América) and Matt Fitzgerald (Walmart), proud sponsors of the CHCI Congressional Internship Program.

The continued with the multitalented CHCI Intern, Daniel Fragoso, who captivated the audience with his heart-warming on behalf of the Fall CIP class.  The graduation program came to a close as CHCI Vice President of Programs, William Gill, called on the graduates on stage to be recognized for their achievements and inducted as new members of the CHCI Alumni Association.

It has been an honor for CHCI to host such a talented group of aspiring Latino leaders. With each graduating class, we propel the dreams and aspirations of the young people we serve, ensuring that our growing community has a place in America's bright future.
