CHCI Director of Programs Selected for Prestigious Fellows Program
CHCI congratulates its director of programs, Rey Decerega, for being one of 12 individuals selected to participate in the American Express NGen Fellows Program. Independent Sector (IS), a nonprofit, nonpartisan coalition of 550 charities, recently announced the names of these promising individuals who work for nonprofits around the country. Established in 2009, the American Express NGen Fellows Program was created to honor and connect future leaders among IS member organizations. It complements IS's program, NGen: Moving Nonprofit Leaders from Next to Now, which is designed to expand and develop the talent and skills of rising nonprofit leaders.
“I am both excited and honored to participate in the fellowship program. I look forward to the opportunity to further build upon my leadership skills, which will help me better serve CHCI and our program participants.” said Decerega.
The American Express NGen Fellows Program offers 12 emerging leaders, under the age of 40, the rare opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, strengthen their professional networks, and elevate the visibility of their accomplishments on a national level. Through three in-person events and online collaboration, the fellows will actively engage in leadership development programming as well as work on a group project.
The nine-month fellowship begins in July and lasts until March 2012. During this time, the fellows will collaborate with other program participants, interact with established mentors, and contribute to Independent Sector's work on nonprofit impact and leadership.
