Groundbreaking Partnership with Facebook to Extend CHCI’s Reach during Hispanic Heritage Month
CHCI is proud to announce that Facebook will be the official social media partner for its 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) events, which will be held September 10-13 in Washington, D.C.
Each year, CHCI hosts three premier events—Public Policy Conference, Reyes of Comedy, and an Annual Awards Gala—to launch the national celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year’s HHM theme, CHCI at 35: Keeping the Founders’ Promise, is a tribute to the group of Hispanic members of Congress whose vision for CHCI has resulted in transformative programs that empower young Latinos and help develop the next generation of Latino leaders.
Facebook’s presence, especially during the Public Policy Conference, will help CHCI extend its reach and generate a national dialogue on issues that affect the Latino community. Integrating Facebook’s platform will help connect powerful Hispanic leaders with a wider audience and enable real time, two-way communication that will mark a considerable technological upgrade for CHCI’s events. It will also engage even more young Latinos through a communication channel that many interact with daily, significantly expanding CHCI’s ability to positively impact this critical audience.
“By partnering with Facebook, one of the world’s foremost experts on connecting people, we can more easily share information and reach more constituents across the country, many of whom cannot attend our D.C. events,” said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO. “This relationship will create opportunities to include a much larger audience than ever before and we are grateful to Facebook for its generous support of our premier events.”
“Facebook is excited to partner with CHCI for its Hispanic Heritage Month events,” stated Susan Gonzales, External Affairs at Facebook. “Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected, and this collaboration will allow CHCI to take advantage of a global platform to share its message.”
For nearly 35 years, CHCI’s programs—Ready to Lead, High School Latino Leaders in D.C., Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships—have made a powerful, positive difference in the lives of more than 7,000 young Latinos and have raised awareness about the critical need for educational attainment and leadership development programs with national leaders and change organizations.
Founded in 2004, Facebook boasts more than 901 million active monthly users as of March 2012 and now has more than 3,500 employees in offices in the United States and abroad.
Exciting details of the onsite implementation and interactive capabilities will be announced later this summer. For now, individuals are encouraged to become a fan of CHCI on Facebook to stay informed of the latest HHM news.
