On December 1, CHCI officially relocated to its new interim space at 300 M Street, SE in Washington, D.C., Suite 510. With this step, we will continue searching for new headquarters to house a 21st Century Leadership Center. We look forward to engaging all our stakeholders as we embark on Building Our Future, Together.

On December 6, the CHCI Fellows had the opportunity to meet the newest fasters from the Fast for Families, aimed at promoting action from legislators in regards to immigration reform. Our fellows gained unprecedented access into the fasters'plight to fix the country’s broken immigration system. Join us in support of these brave individuals who through their sacrifice are actively changing the sentiments surrounding this contested issue. Read more

Over 200 Latino professionals and college students have supported the Mentoring Power Hour sessions at R2L events across the country this year. CHCI is currently seeking individuals interested in helping to develop the next generation of Latino leaders by serving as mentors at its upcoming R2L college-going event in Los Angeles. One hour of your time can have a significant impact on the lives of Latino high school students as they prepare to pursue a higher education. We hope that we can count on you to invest a small amount of your time and energy to help us accomplish our mission to educate, motivate, and empower Latino youth. Read more

On November 24, CHCI proudly celebrated the 2013 Fall Congressional Internship Program Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 2013 CHCI Fall Congressional Interns (CIP). These 24 future Latino leaders were treated to a wonderful ceremony held at the Rayburn Gold Room to celebrate the completion of the eight-week program. The ceremony was attended by a variety of special guests. CHCI Chairman, Rep. Rubén Hinojosa and CHCI President & CEO, Esther Aguilera, opened the program with some remarks emphasizing the importance of higher education and perseverance. Read more

Over 150 students and mentors joined CHCI for a tremendous day of leadership and learning at R2L New York, held on Saturday, November 23 at Lehman College in the Bronx. In addition to their workshops on college planning, leadership, and financial literacy, participants had the opportunity to hear from two members of Congress. Rep. José Serrano addressed the students during the morning session and Rep. Charles Rangel joined the students for the start of the Mentoring Power Hour. Both leaders encouraged the students not to be bystanders, but to be leaders. Read more
