San Joaquin Valley Applicants

CHCI's High School Latino Leaders in D.C. Program is an exciting opportunity available to students from select geographic areas where Ready to Lead (R2L) events have been held. This page can provide you more information for San Joaquin Valley students interested in applying for the program.

I live in the San Joaquin Valley. How do I know if I'm eligible?
In order to be eligible to apply, students from the San Joaquin Valley must either:

Attend any high school within the Merced County Office of Education (for a list of eligible districts, click here).
Attend any high school within the Fresno County Office of Education (for a list of eligible districts, click here).

While attendance at the Merced Ready to Lead event (held last November) is not required in order to apply, attendance at Ready to Lead will be considered during the selection process. For more information about Ready to Lead, click here.

Students attend Merced Ready to Lead in November 2011.

In addition to meeting one of the geographic requirements, students must:

Be a current 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student
Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
Demonstrate interest in learning more about civic engagement

While we do require applicants share their grades and a copy of their transcript, there is no minimum GPA requirement to apply.
