Cristina Gil - December 2012
Cristina Gil
CHCI-United Health Foundation Scholar
Chicago, IL
B.A., Psychology
Georgetown University
Had her parents not risked their lives by immigrating to the United States, Cristina Gil would not be the person she is today, which is a proud Mexican-American college student at Georgetown University.
Cristina's primary aspiration is to become an immigration lawyer; to address the issue of immigration in a pro-active way and facilitate a means in which she can assist families much like her own stay together. Cristina feels strongly that families should not be torn apart and she wants to be the force to make this true. "I feel that it is my personal responsibility to aid these families. If it were not for my parents immigrating to the United States, I would not even have the privilege of doing so. I want to be able to give back the opportunity that was given to me by my parents who came here to provide for my siblings and myself."
