Each year, the Fiesta de Golf Scholarship Challenge raises critical funds for CHCI's Scholarship Program so that young Latinos can pursue their dreams of a college education.  CHCI scholarships provide necessary financial assistance for Latino youth to complete post-secondary education, which is a crucial success factor in our country's future growth.  To date, CHCI has provided more than 1,100 scholarships and invested more than $4.1 million in the Latino community to fund higher education.

Each spring, golfers of all skill levels from across the nation join CHCI for the Fiesta de Golf Scholarship Challenge held at Andrews Air Force Base’s prestigious courses located in the Washington, D.C. area.  Now celebrating its 16th year, this event provides an opportunity for community and industry leaders to network and have fun while raising money to support CHCI's mission to develop the next generation of Latino leaders®.  (More

CHCI on the Road: Plan Now to Attend Education Events in San Antonio on March 30 & 31

Building on the momentum of an extremely powerful and successful event in New York City in January, CHCI is taking its national education dialogue to San Antonio on March 30 & 31. Learn about two events designed to increase the educational attainment level of young Latinos. These events are part of CHCI's ongoing commitment to supporting the national goal of a 60 percent college graduation rate by 2030. 2012 Young Latino Leaders Summit Series Announced

The CHCI Programs department and the 2011-12 CHCI Graduate Fellows have announced the agenda for the annual Young Latino Leaders Summit Series. Scheduled for Monday, April 16, at the Rayburn House Office Building, CHCI's nine distinguished graduate fellows will moderate a public policy roundtable discussion on insightful and timely issues affecting the Latino community and the nation.  This event is the culmination of the graduate fellows' public policy research project and draws members of Congress, public policy experts, national leaders, and other stakeholders.  View the day's agenda and register to attend.

Trailblazer Rep. Ed Pastor Inspires R2L Phoenix Participants

Over 130 high school students from the Phoenix area gathered on February 11 at the South Mountain Community College campus to hear Rep. Ed Pastor speak about the opportunities that open up to those who pursue higher education degrees.  The students were energized and motivated by the personal history that the Congressman shared.  Despite his humble beginnings, he earned a law degree from Arizona State University and later became an elected official in Congress.

Other distinguished guests, including representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, South Mountain Community College, AT&T HACEMOS, and the CHCI Alumni Association provided comprehensive workshops with practical advice on how to achieve the dream of a college education.  (More)

Verizon Foundation Helps CHCI Raise Awareness About Domestic Violence

CHCI, in partnership with Verizon Foundation, hosted a powerful domestic violence awareness event on February 17.  Rep. Loretta Sanchez joined several panelists and moderator Paulette Sullivan Moore, Vice President of Public Policy, National Network to End Domestic Violence, for a discussion about the most underreported crime in America--domestic violence.  (More)

CHCI's Scholarship Program provides critical financial assistance to Latino students for post-secondary education. Because college completion for young Latinos is imperative to maintaining the U.S. economic competitiveness and ensuring that our country's future workforce is prepared, CHCI is proud to offer scholarships to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future.  (More)
