Michael Diaz

August 2008

At seventeen years of age, Michael Diaz is an outstanding student with deep passion and commitment towards his education, leadership, and community service. Students at Millikan High School look up to him and are constantly asking him for help on homework. Besides being at top of his class, Michael is involved in tennis, student council, is the president of two clubs on campus, and is a member of the 5th District Youth Council. Any free time is dedicated to community service through his experiences with Eagle Scouts, Horizon Club Camp Fire, Red Cross, and more.

Michael took four AP classes as a junior and still managed to maintain a perfect grade point average. He is self-motivated and very helpful working with the students around him who need help. He asks proving questions to gain insight into problems. He is not just intelligent, he works hard, helps others, and above all, he is down to earth.

Michael is much more than an academic student. Michael expressed to his guidance counselor, “I want to get out there and make my mark on the world. Hopefully my intelligence will help and guide me, but never will it define who I am. I work hard at everything I do and I commit myself to helping others.” Community service and helping others is an integral part of who Michael is. Almost everything he participates in involves helping others. Michael’s dedication, commitment, and abundant service distinguish him as a CHCI Young Leader of Today.
